In science:

In this paper, we study the current-induced heat generation while an electric current flows through a QD that is in the Coulomb blockade regime, focusing on the heat transfer to the phonon part since the phonon creation is the main source of the heat generation in QD.
The electric current induced heat generation in a strongly interacting quantum dot in the Coulomb blockade regime
These two ingredients, i.e., the long range interaction and the semi-isolation of the array, will be shown to lead to multiple Coulomb blockade gaps in I − V characteristics under some conditions, which will the main topic in this paper.
Geometrically Induced Multiple Coulomb Blockade Gaps
Our tentative conclusion is that the multiple Coulomb blockade gaps and NDC behaviors seem to be generic features of arrays with two branches, although the systematic behavior of I − V with change of hni is better seen in the system that we have considered in this paper.
