It includes the chitons (Polyplacophora), together with Neomenia and Chætoderma, which are wormlike forms without a shell.

    • isopleura A prime division of gastropods containing those which are equalsided or bilaterally symmetrical: contrasted with Anisopleura. The isopleural gastropods are chiefly represented by the chitons, but also include such worm-like forms as Chætoderma and Neomenia. Ranked as a superorder, the Isopleura have been divided into three orders, Polyplacophora, Chætodermæ, and Neomenoidea.
