- n cercocebus A genus of long-tailed Asiatic and African monkeys, of the family Cynopithecidæ, with large cheek-pouches and ischial callosities: formerly often included in the genus Cercopithecus, but more nearly related to the macaques. It includes the malbrouk or dog-tailed monkey, and the mangabeys and green monkeys. Species of this genus are frequent in-mates of menageries, and are remarkable for their suppleness and agility.
