- n bungarus A genus of venomous serpents, of the family Elapidæ, natives of India, and closely allied to the Naja, though the neck is not so dilatable. In the Bungarus fasciatus, the rock-serpent, the head is flat and short, the muzzle round, and the upper jaws are furnished with grooved fangs. The color is generally of a light hue, relieved by bands or rings of jetty black. Also Bongarus.
