adjmolaldesignating a solution containing one mole of solute per kilogram of solvent
Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia
molalOf, or pertaining to, that amount of an element or compound which is equal to its molecular weight taken in grams. This amount is sometimes called a mol, and from the term in the German language an adjective molar is derived. The use of this German form of the adjective in English is infelicitous, since the English word ‘molar’ has already a very different meaning. Accordingly, some have lately used the adjective molal.
