ngnetumA genus of climbing shrubs, type of the order Gnetaceæ, including 15 species, natives of tropical regions. They have jointed stems, opposite dilated leaves, flowers verticillate in terminal spikes, and the fruit often drupaceous. The fruit of G. Gnemon and some other Asiatic species is edible, and the young leaves are used as a vegetable.
