- n filago A genus of low, annual, cottony herbs, belonging to the Compositæ, and nearly related to Gnaphalium. There are 8 or 10 widely distributed species, 3 of which are found on the Pacific coast of North America. The cotton-rose or herb impious of Europe, F. Germanica, is also naturalized in the United States.
