Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia
    • n pirameter An instrument or apparatus for testing the relative resistance of roads to the draft of vehicles. The original instrument was a rude form of dynamometer dragged on the ground, and indicating resistance by a finger on a dial. Draft-springs with graduated scales, resembling the ordinary spring-scales for weighing, are now used, the draft-power being applied directly to the springs. Also spelled peirameter.
