Leadbelly and Lomax Together at the American Music Festival.
Fredrik Lundin Overdrive Plays the Music of Leadbelly : Belly-Up Stunt.
Leadbelly (Huddie Ledbetter) was among the most famous and influential of the traditional Southern bluesmen.
Folk-song collector John A Lomax discovered Leadbelly in Louisiana's Angola prison and masterminded the singer-guitarist's 1935 introduction to the world (via New York), and their names have been linked ever since.
They come from a nearly moribund folk blues tradition whose standard-bearers included Leadbelly, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Elizabeth Cotton, Josh White, and a very young Bob Dylan.
