nEuriteū"rīt(Min) A compact feldspathic rock; felsite. See Felsite.
Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia
neuriteA name given in 1819 by D'Aubuisson to a rock described by him as being a fine-grained, homogeneous granite, consisting mainly of feldspar (the other ingredients being intimately mingled with the feldspar, as if fused with it), having a hardness a little less than that of quartz, and being partly fusible before the blowpipe. The name is at present but little used in France, where petro-silex is preferred, and hardly at all in other countries. See quartz-porphyry and felsite.
