- n clitoria A genus of plants, natural order Leguminosæ, found throughout the tropics of both hemispheres. The species, which are numerous, are climbing, rarely erect, herbs, with large blue, white, or red flowers. Several are in cultivation. C. Mariana, the butterfly-pea, is a native of the United States and Mexico.
