- n bumelia A genus of plants, of the natural order Sapotaceœ. They are trees or shrubs, with a milky juice, a spiny stem, and small white or greenish flowers, are natives of the West Indies, and are called there bastard bully-tree. The fruit of B. lycioides is said to be useful in diarrhea.
